It's true. Sometimes I undervalue myself and my accomplishments, my dedication to community and constant sacrifice for the sake of growth so this place can remain an anchor to the community for years to come. It's too easy to get caught up in the minutiae of my work and forget to take a step back and look at the big picture, and it's even easier to brush off compliments for what I do as just part of my job and not something worthy of praise. See, but this is where my community always steps up. You persist, you don't give up if I'm caving in on myself, but instead you pull me back up with all the force that love and gratitude can offer. (In case you didn't know, it's stronger than anything else in the world.) You always remind me of my worth and how much of a difference I've made for this community. It's because of YOU that I have been nominated to receive a Community Pride Award from Peoria Proud at River City Pride Festival. Please, join me this Saturday, August 3rd at the Glen Oak Amphitheater for the awards ceremony at 2 pm during the all-day Pride Festival. I wouldn't be recognized for my accomplishments if my supporters weren't so vocal with their love and gratitude, so this award is for you as well, loves. It truly is. Jennifer is covering the shop, so I will be there in person to accept the award, oh and I'm definitely going to cry. Come out and share this moment with me if you can, ok?
