Long time no blog!
Updated: Dec 28, 2018
Hi loves! I sometimes get caught up in doing all the things that I forget to do, um, ALL the things. That said, let me update you on where I've been and where I'm going! It seemed like all of November was spent working to prepare for Small Business Saturday, which as most of you know, was just a few days ago. I had such a successful day that I decided to extend a few of my sales through this Saturday, December 1st. You can buy four used books and get the fifth one of equal or lesser value FREE, and you can buy two new books and get the third one of equal or lesser value 50% off! I also have some FREE stickers left, so I will continue to hand those out with all sales until they're gone.
Also, on Small Business Saturday, my videographer launched his social media and I am SO excited to be showcased in this commercial, and I thank him for his hard work and dedication to small, locally owned businesses that celebrate diversity! Watch the commercial below, and be sure to check out all he has to offer at sephbennett.com and follow him on Facebook.
December is going to be no less busy than November and October. Events that you can look forward to seeing this coming month are:
Nonfiction Book Club | Wednesday, December 5th |
This will be our final meeting to discuss through the end of Robert Sapolsky's Behave. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks for yourself or to share. Next month we will be discussing Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty. I will have several new copies available as early as tomorrow at a 15% discount for book club members, or you can order from my online store.
First Friday Pop-Up Shop with Rachel Newell | Friday, December 7th | 5-9 pm
Rachel is a mixed media collage artist with a passion for reusing other people's unwanted materials. She loves to search for unusual, colorful images in old magazines and books found at thrift stores, estate sales, and rummage sales. She then hand-cuts and reassembles various pieces to create unique, dreamlike collages. Rachel will be bringing a variety of original pieces of art, handmade books, and small magnets to Lit on Fire Used Books, which will all be on sale for your Christmas shopping needs!
Acoustic Night @ Lit. on Fire | Saturday, December 8th |
7 pm | $5 suggested donation
Queer Monthly Book Club | Tuesday, December 11th |
Join the Peoria Area LGBTQ+ OUTings and Events group for their monthly book club meeting right here at Lit. on Fire Used Books on Tuesday, December 11th from 6-8 pm! December's book to be discussed is The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff. More information can be found in their Meetup group here, and you can RSVP to the Facebook event here.
January's book will be Gender Outlaw by Kate Bornstein, and I will have a few new copies available as early as tomorrow in store at a 15% discount for book club members, or you can order from my online store.
Get Lit. Open Mic Night | Wednesday, December 19th |
Wednesday, December 19th will bring us together again to breathe life once more into these walls with poem, story, and song. We welcome you with open arms, whether this is your first visit or your tenth. Come to listen, or come to share. Either way, bring the love and we will too. ♥
This is a FREE event, but you are encouraged to support Lit. on Fire Used Books so we can keep it that way. You should be 18+ or have parental permission to attend. Please be sure to follow curfew law, too for everyone's well being. ♥
And, last but not least, we will see the return of Drag Queen Story Hour! Details will be announced soon, so keep your eye on my Events page here and on Facebook for the announcement!
